The most memorable activity for me was the glass blowing demonstration. I’ve always wondered how it is done and was fascinated to see the process. At the end of the session we were given a huge glass blown platter to display in the office.
The trip to the Werribee Open Range Zoo was also enjoyable. The previous year we did the bus tour safari with the MDA bus. This year however we toured the other section of the park containing lions and various other animals. The meerkats were a highlight with their inquisitive nature. I was tempted to keep one as a pet, but that would not have made me very popular with the zoo staff.
Other activities included many trips to the movies. The best movies I saw were Mystic River and Hero.
It has been great to have David running the program and I wish him well in his studies at uni next year. I’m sure all of the staff and other participants will miss his cooking.
